Make rapid progress in wine tasting

Le Nez du Vin® brings together a collection of aromas and a companion book to help you make rapid progress in wine tasting. With this set, you can:

  1. Train and enrich your olfactory memory
Smell is the most important sense in wine perception and accounts for 80% of tasting pleasure. You have surely noticed that when you have a cold, you cannot taste food.
Recognising an aroma in a glass of wine can be difficult. Have you ever felt you knew a smell without being able to identify it? That is normal! Like reading, writing or arithmetic, learning to smell also requires practice.

Le Nez du Vin® is widely recognised by professionals while remaining easy and enjoyable to use. Choose aromas at random, smell carefully (preferably blindfolded), classify them, try to name them and then check. Within a few weeks, you will be able to identify, recognise and, above all, name these aromas confidently.

Aromas Le Nez du Vin

  1. Analyse the wines you taste better – but why?
Recognising aromas enriches your tasting vocabulary. Putting impressions into words increases pleasure and makes sharing them with others easier.

Wine aromas also reveal information about grape variety, geographical origin, winemaking method and ageing.
The companion book serves as a guide: it links the aroma collection to tasted wines and includes a list organised by grape varieties and wine regions in France and worldwide, with their typical aromas.

Refine your palate

As a beginner, you may prefer white wines with pronounced notes of pale-fleshed fruit (apricot, peach), flowers (rose, linden blossom) and honey.
With Le Nez du Vin®, you learn that you can freely explore Gewürztraminer and Muscat varieties.

  • Gewürztraminer is grown mainly in Alsace and Germany. Its most common notes include lychee, rose and clove.
  • There are several Muscat varieties, all with high terpene content, giving wine a pleasant, distinctive aroma. Muscat grapes are widely grown in southern France.

Become a wine detective

As an enthusiast, you taste a glass of white wine. Thanks to regular training with our aromas, you can identify hawthorn, toasted hazelnut, butter and vanilla notes. These elements offer clues to the grape variety, wine origin and the winemaker's vinification and ageing practices.

In the book, you discover that this aromatic profile is typical of Chardonnay.

  • The buttery note comes from diacetyl, a molecule formed during malolactic fermentation.
  • Vanilla appears in wines aged in new oak barrels because vanillin is released through the breakdown of wood lignin.

Good sales and delivery service

"A very satisfactory experience and very fast delivery without any difficulties"

Le Nez du Vin 54 Aromas Book

"The product was exactly what I was looking for at a good price. Nothing to fault. Your website's menus do not show some of the products you sell, so I have to use Google to search and your website appears in the results. But when browsing the menus directly on the website, many products do not appear. I believe the book I bought is one example. Regarding your logistics, you sent the order to the wrong address, so I had to work it out and chase the carrier, because your logistics department does not distinguish between the billing address and the delivery address, even though the difference is clearly stated on the website."
