Choosing a wine cooler involves looking at more than bottle count. Installation, temperature stability and the way you will use the appliance make a difference every day.
Storage or serving?
If you want to store wine for longer, look for stable temperature control and a suitable bottle arrangement. If your main aim is to have white, red or sparkling wines ready to serve, compare temperature ranges and consider a dual-zone model. The ideal temperature depends on the wine style and storage duration.
Actual capacity
Allow some room to grow your collection. Advertised capacities are usually measured with standard-format bottles; wider formats and changes to shelf positions may reduce actual capacity.
Installation and ventilation
Check whether the wine cooler is freestanding, under-counter or designed for built-in column installation. Measure the recess and respect the clearances and ventilation specified in the manual. A wine cooler unsuitable for the space may struggle to cool correctly.
Comfort and consumption
Compare noise and consumption values for each model, especially if the wine cooler will be in an open-plan kitchen or living room. Also check the climate class, the door's protection from light and ease of access to shelves.
